CELEBRATING THE DIVERSITY OF BIRTH

CHECK OUT HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2025

APRIL 25, 2025

In April of 2025 was the inaugural Indiana Doula Conference. kozēkozē presents the Indiana Doula Conference was a groundbreaking, statewide gathering of doulas from all certifying bodies, specialties, and areas of passion, fostering connection, collaboration, and continued learning.

The 2025 Indiana Doula Conference filled critical gaps by providing continuing education, peer support, and visibility for doulas in a state with rising needs but limited infrastructure. It kick-started a movement, elevating the doula profession and better supporting perinatal care in Indiana.

This year, we're scaling that impact even further—anticipating over 100 doulas, nearly 50 community organizations, and several key sponsors coming together statewide. Through deeper programming, more collaborative opportunities, and broader stakeholder engagement, this year’s conference will up-level the vital role doulas play in equity-driven maternal health.

The Real Need for Doulas in Indiana

INDIANA’S BIRTH LANDSCAPE

Year after year, Indiana continues to face significant maternal and infant health challenges. The 2024 March of Dimes Report Card found that Indiana’s preterm birth rate rose to 11%, while the state’s infant mortality rate climbed to 7.2 per 1,000 live births- both well above the national average.

FUTURE OF THE DOULA INDUSTRY

The global market valued the doula industry at $23.8 billion in 2025 and projected to reach $41.3 billion by 2032. In the U.S., demand continues to rise as more families recognize the proven impact doulas have on birth outcomes, mental health, and postpartum recovery.

INCREASING DEMAND FOR DOULAS

More than 20 of Indiana’s 92 counties are considered to be maternity care deserts, lacking hospitals, birth centers, or obstetric providers. In these areas, doulas become essential lifelines, providing continuity, support, education, and advocacy where professional maternity care is sparse or inaccessible.

MEET THE Founder of the Indiana Doula CONFERENCE

ERIN BRIER

I’m Erin Brier of Erin Brier Birthing! I am a Certified Labor Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Perinatal Consultant with nearly a decade of experience supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

As the founder of the Indiana Doula Conference and the Indiana Association for Professional Doulas (INAPD), it has been a dream come true getting to unite birth professionals, hospitals, and community partners to better advance maternal health across the state!

I’m so passionate about creating innovative strategies that both elevate the role of doulas, and also transform birth outcomes and experiences for families and providers alike. The Indiana Doula Conference does just that!

The 2026 Indiana Doula Conference will be even bigger, better, and more intentional than last year. I can’t wait to bring the second annual Indiana Doula Conference to life!
